This class meets the requirements of Iowa Code for high school driver education, with a focus on the first time teen driver 14-17 years old. This is a 36-hour course where you will have 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel driving (not part of the classroom time) covering all types of driving environments such as residential, downtown, two-lane highway and interstate. Drive sessions can be expected to continue 30 days after the end of classroom sessions. Iowa Western uses licensed driver education instructors. We strongly recommend driving as much as possible with your child before and during the class. Student’s Iowa Learners Permit number required for registration. Textbook included. The mandatory Parent's Meeting is Monday, August 24 from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm.

Please read:  Student’s Iowa Learners Permit number required for registration. Drive times are assigned by the instructor on a rotating basis and handed out at the parent’s meeting and may run up to 30 days after the last class. Drive times take place outside of classroom time.
