The Paraeducator Generalist Certificate course is a 90-hour program developed to train individuals to work under the supervision of teachers or other licensed personnel in the classroom setting. The training includes six competencies defined by the BoEE to cover the vital skills needed for a paraeducator to be successful in the classroom. The six competencies include Foundations, Learning Environment, Content and Instruction, Emotional and Behavioral, Professional Relationships and Ethical and Professional Practice. The program will be offered as a hybrid course with face-to-face sessions and online work. Students are expected to attend 100% of the face-to-face classes and must have access to a computer/internet outside of class time in order to take the courses. Student also must complete a ten hour practicum at a school under the supervision of a licensed educator.

2020 Class Dates: January 11 and 25, February 8 and 22, March 7 and 21
NOTE: This course is not appropriate for teachers to take for license renewal and it is not appropriate for RENEWAL of a Paraeducator Certification.
This (90 clock hours) hybrid course is open to all paraeducators needing certification or anyone looking to become a paraeducator. Successful completion of this course will lead to Paraeducator Generalist Certification from the Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE).
