This training is for Dental Assistants who work in Iowa.
Objectives for Day 2:
- Taking occlusal registrations
- Placement and removal of gingival retraction material
- Applying cavity liners and bases; desensitizing agents; and bonding systems, to include the placement of orthodontic brackets, following the determination of location by the supervising dentist
- Removal of adhesives using nonmotorized hand instrumentation
This program expands the scope of practice for a dental assistants. It includes initial assessment to determine the base entry level of all participants; didactic component; lab component; clinical component, which must be obtained under the personal supervision of the participants' supervising dentist while the participant is concurrently enrolled in the program; and post-course competency assessment at the conclusion of the program.
